Our theme this year is Messy Grace: Bridging the Tension of Truth and Grace. Bridging that tension can be difficult, especially when culture meets scripture. When boldly and courageously proclaimed, the powerful combination of grace and truth, helps to transform lives for Jesus Christ.
Caleb Kaltenbach will be our speaker this year. He is one of the pastors at Shepherd Church in Los Angeles, the same church Dudley Rutherford was with a few years ago. Caleb is also an author who has written several books, including Messy Grace. He regularly speaks on faith, biblical sexuality and gender, and ministry systems. A graduate of Ozark Christian College and Talbot School of Theology, Caleb received his doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Amy, have two teenagers and reside in Southern California.
If you’ve not heard of Caleb, he has a powerful testimony of growing up in a household with LGBTQ+ parents. He has firsthand experienced how Christians witnessed to him and his family, and also experienced other Christians shaming his family. It will be a great night to help us learn how we can better share the gospel with those in our families, friends, workplaces, and schools.
The doors open at 5:00 pm and the meal will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. We know it is not easy for everyone to get here by 5:30 pm, so there will be plenty! The worship team from Cornerstone Christian Church in Effingham, IL, will begin at 7:00 pm. An offering to benefit the camp will be received during the worship time. Caleb Kaltenbach will then share with us, and we will conclude the evening by 8:30 pm.
